Pedro Guimarães (Portuguese, b. 1974) is unique in that his taste for design and painting emerged at a fairly early stage in his life, resulting in his first exhibition at the age of 16 at the Youth Centre in Braga, Portugal.
Enjoying a wide creative freedom, Guimarães made use of different resources and materials in his work. In 2005, Guimarães received the “Arte Cantábria” prize awarded by the highly respected painters Fernndo Bermejo,Francisco Santibanez and sculptress Emília Trueba. Following this, Guimarães devoted an increasingly greater amount of time to his "plastic" arts until it finally became his exclusive activity.
Recently, Guimarães participated in several individual and collective exhibitions in Portugal and abroad with his intense and always innovative artistic production. While his annual output is limited, the quality of Guimarães' work speaks volumes for devotion to his craft.
